Sizing Tip:
Measure your dog’s current/old collar from leather to leather (excluding the buckle) and note where the holes are set for the desired collar size. Because this collar is significantly thicker (8.5 mm), allow a little extra room – approximately 0.5 inch (or so) compared to thinner construction collars – for the most comfortable fit.
Zero waste craftsmanship manufacturing – every piece is produced with careful attention to minimise material waste and maximise sustainability.
Full-grain leather is the highest-grade and most premium genuine leather. It uses the top layer of the hide with the natural grain left fully intact — making it far superior to top-grain leather (sanded for uniformity) and lower-grade "genuine leather" (often from split hides with heavy coatings). It is the most robust and durable, offering superior strength, scratch resistance, and a beautiful patina that improves with age. New full-grain leather often starts harder and stiffer, but gradually softens and becomes supple as it absorbs natural oils and use over time.Due to careful hide selection and minimal processing, it is significantly more expensive and more difficult/time-consuming for artisans to work with — which is why many manufacturers avoid it in favour of easier, cheaper options. For heirloom-quality pieces, nothing compares.
Vegetable-tanned leather is widely regarded as safer for dogs than chrome-tanned alternatives. It uses natural plant extracts (like tree bark and leaves) instead of harsh chromium salts and heavy metals, making it free from toxic chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin, cause allergic reactions, or pose risks if a dog chews or licks the collar. This results in a hypoallergenic, non-toxic material that is gentle on your dog's neck, breathable to reduce chafing and sweating, and even has natural antibacterial properties that help prevent odours. While it may start firmer, it softens beautifully with use and is biodegradable and eco-friendly — unlike chrome-tanned leather, which can leave behind irritating residues. For pet owners who prioritise health and safety, especially for Staffordshire Bull Terriers or dogs with sensitive skin, nothing compares.
