A note about new leather
Thick, vegetable-tanned full-grain leather may feel firm when new. This is normal for substantial leather of this quality. With regular handling and wear, its fibres naturally flex and become more supple while the collar retains its supportive shape.
How to measure
Fasten your dog’s current collar on the hole they normally wear, then measure around the inside of the closed collar. If this measurement is between 13 and 16 inches, this collar should fit comfortably.
Why we use full-grain leather
Full-grain leather is the finest and strongest grade available. Its natural surface remains intact, preserving the hide’s strength, grain and individual character. In the usual commercial quality order, leather is ranked as full-grain, top-grain, genuine leather and then bonded leather. “Genuine leather” is a broad label and does not necessarily mean premium quality.
Why we use buffalo leather
Buffalo leather is exceptionally strong, durable and naturally distinctive. Its rich grain gives every set an individual appearance, while its strength makes it ideal for a substantial Staffy collar and matching lead.
Please avoid saddle soap at first
Do not use saddle soap, oils or heavy conditioners on a new set. They can over-soften or darken the leather and may affect its carefully applied artisan finish.
Simple care instructions
Wipe away light dirt with a soft, barely damp cloth and allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature. Never soak it or place it near direct heat. When conditioning is eventually required, use a small amount of a suitable premium leather conditioner and test it first on a discreet area.
